Didactically Reflected Design and Integration of Digital Learning Environments

Digital learning environments are support systems for learners fostering active knowledge construction and enriched with interactive, computer-based elements. Accordingly, two objectives are decisive for the integration ofdigital learning environments in the classroom, to enable self-guided learning and to promote understanding. The former is achieved, for example, through consecutive tasks, direct feedback, accompanying note taking and digital elements incorporating multi-media learning ideas. Basic mental models (“Grundvorstellungen”) are a suitable base for the latter. The presentation will discuss design and integration principles for digital learning environments in the light of current research findings and illustrate them with examples.
